All Blacks & Wallabies make 2 changes each for Melbourne
The All Blacks have made two changes to their starting XV for this weekend's test versus the Convicts with The Rocketman replacing Rene Ranger on the left wing & Jimmy Cowan replacing Piri at halfback. In the other change to the 22 Victor Vito takes Liam Messam's spot on the bench.
Meanwhile Berrick Barnes replaces the suspended Tokoroa Kid, though he will start in number 12 & Giteau will take over at number 10. Stephen Moore takes over from Faingaa at hooker & the other Faingaa twin earns a place on the bench.
The rationale for returning Piri to the bench appears to be his late return back to the squad following him becoming a father. I would have thought his confidence was still sky high after his display in Wellington & he warranted another start. Maybe they want Jimmy's defense to counter the sniping of Will Genia.
The Aussie changes were predictable though I am yet to be convinced Giteau is more suited to 10 than to 12. Saying that Barnes didn't set the Super 14 alight from that position either.
